At birth, many patients have lymphoedema of the extremities and loose skin folds around the neck. Patients have normal intelligence but may perform poorly on tests of spatial perception. Frequent episodes of otitis media in childhood may lead to conductive hearing loss. Some girls may look quite normal except for short stature and delayed or absent puberty. Thus, any short girl with delayed puberty should have Turner's syndrome included in her differential diagnosis.
